Hey guys, I figured out steampunk.
Love this concise summary.
Really, though, I have no problem with steampunk. Paul Di Filippo’s Steampunk Trilogy was a great read.
I’m just tired of how the term has been beaten into the ground by people who should know better. Now it seems like “steampunk” means anything that:
Looks like it may have been made, or is set, prior to 1920
and
is not powered by animals
OR
has at least a vague connection to fantasy or science fiction.
Alternatively steampunk may just be synonym for “brass,” as in “steampunk accents.”
